Building your dream doesn’t happen overnight. It takes time, tenacity, and all the right pieces falling into place. No matter what drives your passion this Small Business Week and beyond, Quantum Fiber is excited to help you get there.
For over 50 years, the U.S. Small Business Administration has celebrated National Small Business Week to honor the contributions of America’s entrepreneurs and small business owners. Join us as we celebrate Small Business Week 2024 and recognize the importance and impact of small businesses in our communities!
The power of small businesses
Small businesses are the backbone of the economy. Across the globe, small businesses are responsible for 70% of employment. In the United States alone, 90% of all companies are small or medium businesses. According to the Chamber of Commerce, there are 32.5 million small businesses in the U.S., and millions of new small businesses are created each year.
Here are just some of the many ways that small businesses can benefit the community.
They create job opportunities. One of the most important ways that small businesses positively impact the community is by generating job growth and providing jobs for locals.
They contribute to the local economy. When customers buy from small businesses, most of that money ends up circulating back into the local economy. In other words, local supports local.
They’re involved in the local community. From farmer’s markets to charity drives to sponsoring local sports teams, small businesses make the community a better place, bringing neighbors together.
They help build community identity and pride. Small businesses become representatives of their community, reflecting the local identity and landscape. They make locals proud of where they live, work, and shop.
They’re better for the environment. Small businesses tend to set up shop in pre-existing spaces, rather than building from scratch. They also tend to carry local products and produce, which have less impact on the environment.
They innovate and diversify the marketplace. To beat the competition and stand out from the crowd, small businesses have to be unique, which diversifies the local market.
